Dreamy Drifters
Good morning, good evening, what day is it, what time is it?
It is time to welcome, on behalf of the Time Travelers Union, our Dreamy Drifters. We welcome you whose minds wander, whose attentions stray, all of you who know how to let go and be carried. We welcome those who space out during work meetings, doodle in the margins of their textbooks, and reclaim expansive time whenever it’s needed. We welcome those with revolutionary patience, those practicing pleasure activism, you who are slowing down your sense of urgency to rest your nervous systems while still orienting toward collective liberation. We welcome those who rail against the artificial shift of Daylight Savings Time; those who feel the offense of throwing off circadian rhythms and messing with the most sacred of all the times—dawn and dusk.
Thank you for bringing mist, dew, and trickling streams to pockets of time that are parched and brittle. Without you, there would be nothing new.
ABOUT THE IMAGE
Of all the repainted images in this calendar, this one was least in need of a do-over. Coming to us from “Blessed Unrest,” 2018’s calendar of small spells, it was originally titled “Between Worlds.” Corina has always loved the original of this painting while Jo hasn’t ever been satisfied with it—specifically the way the water never read as fully liquid. For an image (and message) all about fluidity and softness, Jo wanted to come back to this one to make their fuzziness even fuzzier and to immerse them in their full watery habitat.
