the time travelers union welcomes you
We did not plan to make this calendar.
We were very tired last year when we made Ursa Dorma, our calendar of sleeping animals. And we were still tired later that year when we launched the Wild Chorus oracle deck, planned a DIY wedding (Corina), and survived Hurricane Helene (Jo). By the end of the year, we were wrung out and transformed. We needed rest.
We told our distributor we wouldn’t be making a 2026 calendar. We told each other we wouldn’t. And we've been waiting for the right time to tell you—except here we are telling you the opposite.
This is where the plot thickens.
Each time we make a calendar, we do a little time magic to connect with the future. We don’t get clear details, but we get vibes. Then we translate those vibes into what we think people will need over the coming year. Remember when “Full Stop” was the spell for March 2020, the beginning of global lockdown?
But this year, our portal into the future wouldn’t open for us. Each time we tried, the message was clear: Closed. Do Not Enter. Please turn around.
Perhaps it’s not surprising, in these times of escalating crises, that our usual way was blocked. We took this as confirmation that we wouldn’t make a calendar. Maybe we were even done making calendars, full stop?
But since we still wanted to be in collaboration with each other, we spent what would have been our calendar-making time in long, meandering conversations. It was in one of these spaces that we found ourselves talking about time and quantum physics and what makes the past the past.
Jo was inspired by physicist Carlo Rovelli’s book The Order of Time and West African concepts of time shared by Lisa Mumbi Macharia. Corina was inspired by the cyclic, non-linear understanding of time in Jewish mysticism. We recognized that when the future feels blocked and unreachable, there are spiritual technologies to send us back in time to do repair.
So instead of traveling to the future this year, we went to the past. And we leaned into a different kind of time magic—this time finishing a calendar at the end of the year without a lot of time to spare! Whoosh!
Here it is, just in the nick of time:
2026: The Time Travelers’ Union Welcomes You
For 2026, we’ve gone back in time to bring new resonance to old Abacus Corvus images. Repainted, reconfigured, and reimagined. We envision each image in this collection as a union member within a vast collective of time travelers—all working together in metaphysical solidarity toward an inhabitable future.
If you’re having a hard time believing in a better future, we hope you’ll join our union. It exists in many timelines, intimacies, and collectives. It exists when we seek out the truth of our history and break cycles of oppression. You may identify with one of the groups in our union—Time Killers, Wild Grievers, Desert Crossers, Beloved Strangers, and more—or you may form your own.
Let’s break linear time.
Let's make 2026 a portal for liberation.
Solidarity for(infinite spacetime)ever.
