Singing—In The Darkness We Uncover {May 2023}

Last month’s spell invited us to sing of an unknown future. This month, we begin that song. This is improvisational magic and we need to stay open to the unexpected. These three raccoons, emerging from the darkness, are here to strike the first note. 

In this spell, we are here to uncover something, but not by shining light on it. We’re going to stay in the darkness, with the rich soil, and the permission to feel our way towards something without worrying about how we look. This is vulnerability magic. And we are working with it to the tune of creative disruption and experimentation. May we stumble into and be surprised by what we make, and what we break. May we find wonder, playfulness, and subversive delight.

Here in the northern hemisphere the trees are all leafing out. It is in this glorious greening of the world around us that places of shade and shadow are returning to the world. Crawl into the shadows, bring your comrades and your instruments, and sing!
